When Should You Eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Food is very important for life. Without it, no life will exist. And we all agree to this. Ok in some cases it is not. There is one person in India who hasn’t eaten anything for years and is still alive. Only God knows how is this even possible.

Most people keep track of what they are eating, how much they are eating, and the calories, vitamins, carbs, and so on. People are generally overwhelmed by all this info. Sometimes I think that this makes our life complicated. Why not make it easy and do things which don’t jumble up the things? Well, that’s a personal thought and chances are that not everyone will agree to it. It’s okay. Everybody has their own likings and dislikings, beliefs, and disbelief.

Do you know that what you eat and when you eat is responsible for weight management and even chronic diseases? Yes, you read that right.

You will be amazed to know that according to recent data which has been collected from across the World, Breakfast supplies are selling way much more than Lunch and Dinner. Restaurants trends are showing everywhere that people are looking for more breakfast-type food nowadays.

And it is well evident when food chains like McDonald’s offer breakfast menus all day long. In short, it can be said that eating breakfast is much easier than it used to be. Mother was always right, eat breakfast for sure, and the rest of the day’s food is up to you.

Not only Mom, but science also says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the push to work, to concentrate, the energy to do everything throughout the day. In other words ‘it carries you smoothly.’ It not only prepares you for the day but breakfast also prevents you from diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Yes. Not eating proper breakfast causes all of this.

What to eat depends from person to person. You can easily get a diet plan from your gym trainer or the best person for it, the dietician. But how do you know what is the best time to eat? When should it be done? Let’s find out more about it.

Morning – DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST AT ANY COST

Let us not talk about surveys anymore. Only the facts are important. Right! Do not skip breakfast as it has got adverse effects on your body as a whole. Do you know that as much as 27% percent risk of heart attack or diseases related to it, rises for men who do not eat breakfast?

According to the scientists when we skip breakfast it leads to us being more hungrier and then we are more likely to eat larger meals, which ultimately leads to a shoot up of blood sugar. Such sudden spikes can pave the way for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels which are all the risk factors that can lead to a heart attack. That’s scary! I’m not going to miss my breakfast ever now.

Afternoon

There was one nutritionist called Adelle Davis. He used to say “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper” and this mantra of his is still popular and 100% correct.

During the day your body needs calories and more energy so that you can work properly throughout the day in the office or at school or anywhere else. That is why you should have a proper meal in the mornings. It’s better to have a light meal at noon. A big bowl of salad is much better as it has lower calories and will also fill you up, and you won’t feel hungry.

Evening / Night

Some people skip dinner completely. Yes, you may but then you will most likely feel hungry during the late hours and that may result in wrong eating habits. Feeling hungry in the evening, after dark, is a normal thing. So don’t overreact to it.

Calories burn up no matter when you eat food, so don’t worry about it. As you get less and less active after dark so taking a small amount of dinner food is fine. Why? Because if you eat a large quantity then it will accumulate in your body in the form of fats.

Generally, people eat food very close to bedtime. That is wrong. Very wrong. Give some time to food to get digested and that is at least 3 hours. Eating close to sleep will result in higher blood sugar levels and insulin too which will give you a hard time. You don’t get proper sleep with this routine. Also, do not lie down after eating food as it can result in acid reflux which will make you feel uncomfortable.

Eat right to eat light. That’s the mantra for dinners.

To be very frank, there is no perfect formula for healthy eating that can be applied to each and every one. Healthy weight management and the ability to avoid illness vary from person to person. But yes, paying proper attention to both when and what you eat is a good place to start. So why not do it today itself?
