How to come up with Blog Post Ideas when you have nothing to write?
I have seen that from the last few years now people are getting more and more interested in writing all kinds of blog posts. Generally, people make an ‘everything I want to write’ type of blog. It might work for some but normally it doesn’t. Unless you have a huge budget to hire writers and then spend hundreds of dollars on advertising.
Every blog should be focused on just ONE particular area of interest, also known as Niche.
How to come up with Blog Post Ideas?
Some people find it really difficult to find new blog post ideas. I can understand this ‘problem’ very well. It generally happens when your blog niche is too narrow and whatever you feel can be covered in that particular niche has already been covered by you.
So in order to overcome this issue, you can do a number of things. Let me explain it to you one by one.
Broaden your Niche
You must have read it so many times and at so many places that you must stick to your niche religiously. Yes, it is the right thing to do. But sometimes it becomes so much more difficult to even think about a new topic to write. In such a case you should consider broadening your niche blog a little.
I am sure there will be at least 2 (if not many) sub-topics or related niche topics that you can include in your blog. For example, there is no harm to write about sofa chairs if your blog is about sofas. Or maybe if your blog is about iPhone photography then I don’t think there is anything wrong to write about ND filters and other accessories for the iPhone which can help you take better photos and videos with your smartphone.
But yes, one thing is always to be remembered and followed is that everything you write should be in some or the other way interrelated to the main topic, the niche of your blog/website. You won’t get much success if you write about photography, food recipes, pet care, etc unless you are something like Buzzfeed or Mashable.
I have personally seen many people making one of these two mistakes. Either they try to put so many things on their blog or have a niche so small that there are not many things to write about.
Google Search
One of the easiest ways to find more ideas for writing new blog posts is simply by using the traditional Google search. You don’t even have to use something else like Google Keyword Planner or anything like that in order to find topics.
In order to do this, you just have to make a regular Google search as you would normally do. Let’s take one example here.
I want to write a post on Mother’s Day. And to do this I have done a Google search.
Now look closely. As I searched ‘happy mothers day’ in Google, I came across all these links to various websites, but at the end of the search I found ‘Searches related to happy mothers day’ and now this is what you should note down and start writing content on.
Not all related searches you see are fit for your blog, I agree. But most of them are. Like in this example you can write about; happy mothers day wishes, happy mothers day status, and other related things.
Quora and Reddit
I am sure that you might have at least heard about Reddit and Quora. Or maybe you are already using either or both of them on a daily basis.
Let’s talk about Quora now. What is it? Basically, it’s a website/app for asking questions and helping others by giving answers to their questions.
Quora and Reddit are like a sea of ideas. Yes, they really are. Search any question or search term on Quora and you will find many questions being asked there about that topic. You will always find (generally) some answers from various people about the question that has been asked. Now you can use these questions and write elaborate blog posts on your own website.
This is how you get new ideas for your posts. All you have to do is hunt for them on these question banks. Trust me you won’t regret doing so and in fact, this is the best way to get more knowledge as well as ideas for your posts.
Why it is the best way? It is the best because you can make sure that people are already interested in this topic (the one you are searching for) and are actually looking for it online. You must take as many ideas as you can from both of these websites.
YouTube
Just like Quora and Reddit, YouTube is another platform from where you can take ideas. Search for your desired content and you will come across so much readymade content.
Now I am not saying that you literally steal everything from here, but what you can do is watch the video and hear every word they speak and then taking inspiration from these videos write your own unique and in-depth content.
